Windsor Homeless Project

Lisa – Essential Collaboration

Lisa’s Story – Essential Collaboration

Lisa is a regular at Windsor Homeless Project. She was first introduced to us by her then alcohol support worker at SMART (now re named Resilience). She describes Frank, her worker at that time as incredibly supportive. Lisa found the Windsor Homeless Project very welcoming.

Lisa used to work managing a pub and only drank socially. Sadly this escalated whilst in a relationship with her children’s father. Lisa then began to run into difficulties with the law and her life started to spiral downwards. Alcohol issues were firmly at the centre of her negative life experiences.

Lisa however does not wish to blame anyone for her alcohol issues and says she has very supportive parents.

Lisa looks forward coming to Windsor Homeless Project. She enjoys the company, delicious food and the non- judgemental atmosphere. She does get very lonely and bored, which sadly triggers her alcohol use. At the Project she can meet with others and chat with the volunteers. She cherishes that human contact.

Lisa also sees Lori McGregor at Windsor Homeless Project for one to one key work support. Lori and Lisa spoke about Lisa’s health and it was agreed she should see her GP re her physical problems as soon as she was able. She was then seen as a matter of urgency by the appropriate expert medical team at a local hospital.

Lori was also able to re connect Lisa to Resilience as a priority and she was seen very swiftly.

Lisa will continue to need ongoing support from Resilience, her medical team and us. It is vital that Resilience and WHP work together to help Lisa as much as we can. Luckily the different agencies keep in close contact which enables us to joint work in order to maximise the chance of recovery for Lisa.
