Can you help?
Windsor Homeless Project are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and compassionate individual(s) to take on the role of Saturday Team Lead (voluntary).
WHP exists to enable people experiencing homelessness, and other vulnerable people in our local community to rebuild their lives. We believe that every person in our community should have the chance of a settled, self-supporting and fulfilling life.
The lunch sessions are a huge part of what we do. Guests are greeted with a warm welcome from our wonderful volunteers, a delicious hot meal, and the chance to ask for help. Some guests come to our sessions for a square meal, for others, who may be experiencing loneliness or isolation, it is a chance for conversation and to feel a sense of community. Our volunteer teams are essential in ensuring we can provide all of this for our guests.
The Role
The Saturday Team lead will be responsible for managing two Saturdays a month. If preferred this role can be shared between two individuals (each responsible for one Saturday a month).
Saturday lunch sessions are 2 hours long, with an additional 30 mins for set up, and for clean down.
The Saturday Team lead(s) will report into the Windsor Homeless Project Manager, and be supported by the Saturday Manager, and our fantastic team of experienced volunteers.
Holding the keys: being the first in, and the last out
Managing volunteers throughout the day: including setting up in the morning, throughout the session, and cleaning down at the end
Ensuring our cleanliness, hygiene and safety standards are upheld throughout the session
Ensuring attending guests are logged into the system
Managing safeguarding throughout the session: ensuring the safety of the volunteers and guests
Communicating any updates or issues to the WHP Project Manager after the session
(The volunteer and cooking rota will continue to be managed by the Saturday Manager, and will not be the responsibility of the Saturday Team Lead(s)).
Who we’re looking for:
Commitment to the Project – able to volunteer consistently on 1-2 Saturdays per month
Compassionate, inclusive and non-judgemental – welcoming to all guests, no matter their situation, their past, their race, language, gender, sexuality, or any disabilities
Ability to lead a team of volunteers, to keep a cool head, and to think on your feet
Consent to a CRB check, and supply 2 references
No specific training, qualifications or experience required – WHP will give you any training as needed
What you’ll get back:
Team-leading experience in a supportive setting
Access to training and qualifications (e.g. First Aid, Safeguarding, Kitchen Hygiene)
The chance to give back and make a real impact for some of the most vulnerable people in our community
If you are interested in the role, or have any questions, please get in touch with liv@windsorhomelessproject.org
We can't wait to hear from you!
